Meet Dr. Anna O'Keefe
I am truly honored to be an associate dentist in this practice. I was born and raised in Spokane, Washington and came to Maine to attend Colby College, where I was a Biochemistry major. While there I spent time interning at the office of Dr. Poirier where I discovered a caring, friendly environment in which every practice member focused on doing the absolute best for each patient. Upon graduation from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, I was presented with the Academy of General Dentistry senior award, given to the member of the class having exhibited the greatest interest, knowledge and proficiency in the field of general dentistry. Remarkably, Dr. Poirier was the recipient of this award in his graduating class as well.
After graduation, I returned to Waterville to work at the Community Dental Center Dr. Poirier helped found over a decade ago, then joined Dr. Poirier's practice in August 2013. As a practicing dentist, I have focused on continuing education to further my training and stay at the top of my field. I am currrently the president of the Kennebec Valley Dental Society, a chapter of the Maine Dental Association. While working at the Community Dental Center, I was able to help the Forsyth Institute conduct a study of childhood cavities; the findings of this work will be presented at the 2015 International Association for Dental Research general session.
I am a dentist because I believe that you cannot be healthy if you are not healthy dentally. I work hard to clearly explain a patient’s options and together we work towards the best course of treatment. I strive to create long term, trusting relationships with my patients and their families, especially children. I joined this practice because I know that every member of the staff treats each patient with the utmost care and respect. It is my goal to uphold the same high standard that this practice has been maintaining for many years.
My husband Brendan, a fellow Colby grad, and I are so happy to call Maine our home and raise our daughter in the Waterville area. Together we enjoy cooking and running and we try to take advantage of Maine's great outdoors by hiking and camping with our dog, Murphy. When we can catch a game, watching rugby brings us back to our college days when we played for the Colby team. I am also enjoying my tenure as a board member of the Waterville Public Library. We look forward to raising our family in this wonderful area.
